Cripping Breath, a five-year Wellcome-funded project, focuses on the lives of people with lived experience of respiratory illness and ventilatory medical technologies.

The project centres on different ways of understanding respiratory illness and works to explore a new cultural politics of respiration. Working alongside community researchers with lived experience, Cripping Breath develops creative, critical approaches shaped by personal and professional experience.

The new exhibition will feature creative work from across Cripping Breath, combining narrative, archival and historical approaches to respiratory illness and mechanical ventilation. The display will include creative responses to breathing in the archives, and a real-life version of the Museum of Breathing.

See the exhibition at the Florence Nightingale Museum from 16 March to 11 April.
