It’s got a friendly working environment, good work/life balance, and a good benefit package!

How would you describe the working culture at the University?

It’s a very friendly environment. All my colleagues are nice, friendly and helpful. Before I started I was worried about starting a new job, I had no idea what I was going to do, but I found it was not that hard and I didn’t need to worry about being a new starter. All my colleagues have really helped me and I’ve had training on what I need to do.

What opportunities has working at the University provided you with?

I’ve had training on the Finance system, and training to help me do my day-to-day job.

What would you say to current students who are considering the University as a place to work?

The University is brilliant if you want to try something new. You can learn a lot. There’s a lot of different job roles here and I really enjoy the work. There are good working hours, good pensions, good holidays and I can see myself working here for a while.

Why did you decide to stay in Sheffield?

I really enjoyed the city whilst I was studying here. It’s really chilled and beautiful and the cost of living is good. I like to visit the Peace Gardens, Stanage Edge and to Our Cow Molly for some ice cream! There are good connections to the Peak District and it’s not too far from London when you want a bigger city. I met my partner whilst studying and we decided to stay here.
