Career Connect
Career Connect is the Careers & Employability Service's portal for students & graduates to access a number of services including events, appointments, vacancies, and mySkills.
About Career Connect
Appointments
Students and graduates from the University of Sheffield can book careers appointments with our expert employability advisers. You are free to discuss anything related to CVs and cover letters, applications, interviews and more! Some faculties also offer placements advice appointments for students interested in undertaking a placement year / year in industry.
Events
We offer a wide range of physical and virtual events throughout the year to support students and graduates with employability by helping you to explore your options, recognise and improve your skills and secure placements, internships and part-time or graduate employment.
Events are run both in person and virtually, and hosted by the Careers team and a variety of employers.
Vacancies
Every year thousands of vacancies are posted onto Career Connect. You can search and apply for paid opportunities such as part-time jobs, placements/internships and graduate opportunities, as well as unpaid volunteering positions and insight days.
mySkills
Career Connect is also host to the University of Sheffield's mySkills portfolio, where students and graduates can assess, record, build and reflect on the wide range of skills and attributes you develop throughout your course, work experience and extracurricular activities.
How to access Career Connect
Students
Current students can access Career Connect directly once logged into MUSE, with no need to register for an account.
Graduates
Once you are unable to access MUSE, typically a few days after graduation, you will need to access Career Connect as a graduate. This is done in one of two ways; please follow the appropriate instructions:
(1) If you have already changed your email address to a personal email address (within Career Connect):
- Visit the ‘Forgotten your password?’ page and enter your email address.
- You will then receive an email asking you to set your password.
- Follow the instructions in the email to sign in.
(2) If you have not previously updated your email address:
- Visit the ‘Register’ page, and enter your details on the form including your student registration number in the ‘student ID’ field – this will help speed up the approval process. A member of staff will then review and approve your registration (please note this can take up to 5 working days).
- You will receive an email asking you to sign in and set a password. The system will carry over your history and settings from when you were a student. You can then continue to use Career Connect as before.
NOTE: If you are a current student, please do not try to register as a graduate if you still have access to MUSE as we will be unable to approve your account. Simply continue to use Career Connect through MUSE until you no longer have access to University systems.
