Ossila Ltd
Recruiting graduates to support business growth.
About our organisation
Ossila manufactures and supplies a wide range of equipment, components, and materials which enable intelligent and efficient scientific research and discovery. Ossila products are essential in the fabrication and testing of research devices, including solar cells and display devices, for the development of technologies such as higher efficiency solar panels, flexible OLED screens, wearable solar-powered devices, battery technologies, and more.
Ossila was founded by physicists from the University of Sheffield in 2009.
The challenge
Working with graduates and students has been at the core of Ossila since our inception and is vital for the continued success of our business.
Our success has demonstrated the value of graduate hires. Early prototypes and proof-of-concepts for several products have been developed by PhD students we’ve employed. As a result, integrating these skills into our company on a permanent basis is a priority for us.
What we did
Becoming a consistent employer of students has enabled us to remain close to our academic roots.
We currently employ over fifty staff, of which a significant proportion are from the University of Sheffield, and we have always worked closely with multiple students to support them through their PhD before joining us in a permanent capacity. University of Sheffield graduates have joined us in a variety of roles including R&D, technical support, computing, software, and marketing.
The result
Our previous collaborations with the University of Sheffield have been incredibly successful, and we look forward to continuing this relationship in the future. By continuing to recruit from the University of Sheffield, we hope to foster new ideas, drive forward our research and development efforts, and support the growth of emerging professionals.
Graduate talent from the University of Sheffield has always been a significant part of our business from day one. Ossila’s first 10 hires were from the University and these individuals have helped grow the business into what it is today.
