Sheffield’s diverse cultures, arts, music and communities are celebrated through its numerous festivals. But many are struggling to survive under austerity, the legacy of the pandemic and the effects of the climate emergency.

Working ‘in residence’ and ‘live’ at Live Works urban room, the students used situated art practices to work directly with local community and arts innovators on sites across the city. Collectively, the studio projects imagine a city centre transformed through a ‘festival commons’ that fosters and sustains festivals for years to come.
