Making Place, Making Health
Making Place, Making Health asks how architecture & urban design can make people healthier. Working in Newham, one of London's most diverse and unequal boroughs, students explore how design can address health, care, wellbeing and spatial/environmental justice.
Projects range from therapeutic landscapes and civic buildings to neighbourhood-scale strategies and urban systems. Through drawing, mapping, model-making & engagement with communities, students develop self-directed briefs rooted in real places and real challenges. The studio encourages bold, socially engaged and research-driven work, using architecture as a tool to create healthier, fairer and more resilient futures.
