A message of thanks from our Vice-Chancellor
Because of you, Sheffield thrives. Here’s why your support matters more than ever.
Your gift matters
As spring in the UK approaches, it feels particularly apt to deliver this publication to those of you who so often help create new beginnings. Your belief in Sheffield to deliver world-class education and endlessly pursue knowledge, means that each year our university goes from strength-to-strength. You help students achieve what they once considered impossible, and you help build new wisdom, awareness and expertise for the better.
Your generosity takes many forms. Your donations, your mentorship, your time and your patronage. Every gesture of support no matter the shape, size or purpose makes a remarkable difference. Individuals like you, whose collective efforts make big things happen, exemplify our values of collaboration, ambition, inclusivity and responsibility.
Over the last 12 months, you’ll see the progress we’ve made against our University’s first major fundraising and engagement campaign, Forged in Sheffield, Shaping the Future. You'll see how wide-ranging passions come together to make a real impact. No matter where in the world you reside, your belief in our work means distance is never a barrier to success.
It always brings me great honour to recognise and celebrate your support. Together, you help build an environment of kindness and compassion that keeps us grounded and outward-looking. It’s no secret that higher education has its challenges. But we are not a faceless entity. We are a community of people striving for a better world. You are part of that community and I am forever grateful you share our vision.
Fittingly, we have recently declared that Sheffield stands for independent thinking and shared ambition. This reflects who we are and what we stand for: a world class university where independent thinkers come together in pursuit of a shared ambition. Thanks to you, our community of donors, volunteers and fundraisers, the credence of our message reaches far beyond campus.
Thank you for what you have done for Sheffield. We are a better place with you by our side.
