- Profile
-
I am a Postgraduate Research Assistant working on the Black Mad Project, which explores Black students' experiences of mental health and wellbeing in higher education.
Alongside this role, my doctoral research explores embodiment, race and the lived experiences of Black students, with a particular interest in how racism and wider structures of inequality are experienced, negotiated and felt through the body.
My research interests sit at the intersection of race, mental health, education and social justice. I am particularly interested in approaches that move beyond individualised understandings of mental health to consider the social, political and structural conditions that shape people's everyday lives.
Beyond academia, I am actively involved in community-based work, with a commitment to creating spaces for dialogue, collective learning and meaningful change. My approach to research is grounded in relationships, lived experience and the belief that knowledge should not simply be produced about communities, but developed alongside them.
