We’re delighted that our School features within the top 10 of these guides, reflecting our commitment and excellence in teaching, research, and student satisfaction. Following on from the recent National Student Survey 2024 results, these recent rankings highlight the continued hard work and success from everyone within the School.
The rankings are as follows:
- 9th (The Guardian University Guide 2025)
- 3rd (The Mail University Guide 2025)

These results display the unwavering commitment of our community at Sheffield as we shape our computer scientists for success.”
The Guardian University Guide has established itself as a key league table for UK universities and ranks universities on a number of criteria; including student satisfaction scores based on courses, teaching and feedback, as well as the proportion of graduates in employment or further study after graduation. The guide ranked the University of Sheffield within the top 10 in the UK for 12 subject areas.
The Mail University Guide ranks UK universities based on degree outcomes, graduate employability, salary levels, research quality, and eight more measures. The University of Sheffield was ranked top in the North of England for the second successive year and placed in the top 10 universities in the UK overall.
Other subjects in the Faculty of Engineering also ranked within the top 10 of both guides, displaying the continued success of the Faculty and its position as one of the best within the UK.
