2022 to 2023 MArch studios

An introduction to the MArch studios we ran in the academic year starting in September 2022. Some of these studios have built on previous work, and some of them reflect the pandemic that was a core part of life in these years.

Collaborative Production

Informed by post-capitalist theory, this studio explores an alternative model based on interdependency, social capital and local value, transforming the way people engage with local governance, education, recreation and cultural exchange.

Industrial Ecologies

Thinking as ecologists, we sought to understand Attercliffe as we found it. Through bio-based retrofit and nature-led landscape design we repurposed what we found, creating exciting places for community to grow in our post-carbon future.

Exploring Sarajevo’s periphery; the vast mountains and forests, derelict industrial sites from the Yugoslav period, unregulated settlements and inter-entity borders.

Studio in Residence

Working ‘in residence’ with Castlegate stakeholders to develop speculative design proposals that will directly inform co-production with the council, community groups, independent businesses and arts organisations.
