Description

As the UK population ages, fewer workers are funding a State Pension system that must support an increasing number of retirees. In response, the government has accelerated State Pension age rises and has shifted more responsibility onto individuals. But is this fair, and is it working?

This public panel discussion brings together academics and pensions experts from the Pensions Policy Institute and the Money and Pensions Service. Drawing on research into saving behaviours and public perceptions of pension responsibility, the panel will explore the roles of the state, employers, and individuals in funding retirement. They will highlight how certain pension policies exacerbate and entrench existing inequalities, including drawing on a case study of care worker pensions. The panel will conclude the conversation with a look at possible solutions to these issues, before opening up to audience questions.

Representatives from the Money and Pensions Service will also provide important information about where you can find out more about pensions and saving for retirement.
