Reimagining Trustworthy Autonomous Systems with Young People

In this project, we have sought to recognise the complex processes in which disability is understood, experienced and identified with. We recognise that disability is a category and/or label of identification that may be felt or experienced differently. As such, whilst we have discussed disability and made reference to disabled young people, we wish to recognise the central importance of self-identification as part of our commitment to co-production and participatory research methodologies.

Imagining Technologies for Disability Futures

The project is the first to combine expertise in arts and humanities, design, robotics and users of assistive technologies to increase understanding of how disability and embodiment are currently represented and used, and the ways in which technology can enhance lives in the future.

PErsonized Robotics as SErvice Oriented applications (PERSEO)

The EU funded PERSEO project will train early-stage researchers from the field of Computer Science, Philosophy and Psychology in how robotics technology can be personalised on the pyhsical, cognitive and social levels. This will help the early-stage researchers understand how to address social, legal and ethical issues that arise with the uptake of personal robots.

The UK faces a STEM worker shortage and a lack of diversity in the field, impacting productivity and technological progress. The Evaluating Robotic Interventions in STEM Education (ERISE) project aims to address these issues by integrating educational robotics into classrooms.

Counterfactual Assessment and Valuation for Awareness Architecture (CAVAA)

In real-world implementations artificial agents fall short in terms of spatial and temporal awareness, awareness about self and others, and decision-making abilities. Through CAVAA, the consortium plans to generate artificial awareness by interfacing a cognitive architecture agents with the propensity of reasoning, decision-making, or revisiting past experiences and reflecting upon what was right or wrong.
