Industrial Research Advisory Board (IRAB)

The Industrial Research Advisory Board (IRAB) acts in a non-executive capacity to advise the School on research, impact, and matters relating to its interface with industry and other end users of research.

Overview

The board convenes twice a year and includes industrialists from a range of industry sectors. Members are appointed for an initial five-year term and may also hold an honorary position of visiting professor or visiting fellow. Current membership includes representatives from; ASML, Corin Group, Ford, Furrer & Frey, NPL, Performance Engineering Solutions, Rolls-Royce, Sandvik Coromant, and Siemens.

The purpose of the board is to enhance the reach, significance, industrial relevance, and impact of the School’s research. The board advises on industry trends and opportunities, and facilitates links with collaborators and funding mechanisms for research priorities. It seeks to identify areas where research might have an impact and promote that impact.
