Music

The school is home to world-leading academics in a diverse variety of music-related fields, all dedicated to providing an exciting and flexible range of modules designed to inspire the next generation of musical talents. You’ll also find a vibrant and lively research community focussed on a wide variety of music-related disciplines, including composition, music psychology, performance, ethnomusicology, and music technology.


Languages and Cultures

The school brings together outstanding academics and language teachers to foster a lively intercultural research community while providing flexible options for language learning.

The school offers options to study a language alongside its cultural context, even providing the opportunity to gain work experience in the country you’re studying. Alternatively, you can choose to study a language while completing a degree in a different discipline, or as a member of the public.


East Asian Specialism

The School of Languages, Arts and Societies is also notable for its world-leading research and teaching within the field of East Asian Studies. It is home to the Centre for Korean Studies, one of the world’s foremost interdisciplinary hubs for studies of Korean politics, society, history, and culture. Students are able to enjoy a diverse range of modules equipping them with the skills needed to launch brilliant careers in China, Japan, and Korea.

International scholarships

We offer a generous package of financial support for international students, including undergraduate and postgraduate taught scholarships worth £10,000 towards the annual tuition fee.

Applications are open for existing offer holders for programmes starting in autumn 2025.
