Under a variety of similar names, the organisation has held the annual UK bioengineering conference for over ten years.
These meetings have grown to become the UK’s largest gathering of Biomedical Engineers, Medical Engineers and Bioengineers.
We are pleased to announce that the BioMedEng Membership System is now live and open to apply for membership.
Insigneo and the University of Sheffield will be the hosts of the next BioMedEng conference this September, and many Insigneo members will be involved as programme committee members, chairs and speakers. Regardless of whether the conference is in-person, hybrid or online, BioMedEng members will be entitled to a registration discount for the Sheffield meeting.
Association membership
Membership is open to practising engineers, clinicians, students and anyone who is interested in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering and Bioengineering. UK and International members from Industry, Academic Institutions and Research Centres, Clinical Establishments and Hospitals, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations, amongst others are all welcome.
In addition to receiving reduced registration fees at the annual conference, hosted by the Insigneo Institute at the University of Sheffield in 2021, and partner events, members have access to a full list of benefits. View the available benefits.
The current membership rate is £30/year for Full Members and £20/year for Research Student Members (PhD and MRes). A free annual membership is offered to undergraduate and MSc students for the 2021 calendar year.
A Student ID is required for student rates.
Partnership with Frontiers in Medical Technology Journal
Following on from the association’s successful launch which included a panel discussion on ‘The Bioengineering Response to the Global Pandemic’, they are publishing a collection of articles with the Open Access journal – Frontiers in Medical Technology.
The collection will capture the bioengineering response and activity on COVID-19 from research groups in the UK and around the world.
The collection is available online and titled: The Bioengineering Response to SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19. Manuscript contributions can be of different types, and the deadline for submissions is currently set to 31 March 2021.
Next member only event
The Association will be hosting a panel event in March to explore the lessons learned for biomedical education in the lockdown.
As part of the event, the panel will explore the benefits and challenges associated with remote learning of various biomedical engineering courses.
This will be a member only event, so join the BioMedEng Association today to benefit from this and many other exciting opportunities.
