BSC and BA Geography gained the number one spot in the Russell Group for student voice this year, according to the latest National Student Survey (NSS). BSC Geography was also 1st in the Russell Group for Organisation and Management.

Both courses came 3rd in the Russell Group for learning resources, with BSC Geography going on to gain 3rd for assessment and feedback and learning opportunities.

Environmental Science achieved 2nd place in the Russell Group for assessment and feedback, and 2nd place in the Russell Group for the teaching on my course category.

The success continues with the EnvSci courses being awarded 3rd place in the Russell Group for learning opportunities and learning resources.

Head of Department Professor Jenny Pickerill said, “We love collaboratively working with students as they learn, and it is great to get this recognition for student voice, and the way we organise, resource, provide opportunities and feedback with students in the recent NSS results."

More than 335,000 final year students from across the UK completed the survey in which they fed back on their experience of higher education.

This year, students placed Sheffield top of the UK’s 24 world class, research-intensive universities.

Sheffield received the highest positive responses to 27 questions that asked students to rate their academic experience, mental wellbeing, resources and support.
