The Sheffield Methods Institute marked its 10th anniversary this September, reflecting on a decade of work bringing  leading methods education and research to the Faculty of Social Sciences at The University of Sheffield.

Now part of the School of Education, the Sheffield Methods Institute has spearheaded methods training within the faculty, becoming the home of Sheffield’s Q-Step centre

The birthday event brought members of the SMI community together to share their memories, including Dr Ryan Bramley:

Without the Sheffield Methods Institute, I probably wouldn't still be here as a lecturer in the School of Education today! I did my MA with SMI in 2016-17, which gave me a brilliant introduction to social research methods and prepared me so well for my PhD.

To celebrate the work that’s been achieved over the decade, the team also showcased 10 highlights from across the 10 years - from Formula 1 to their award-winning staff
