Sheffield is a beautiful city that has something for everyone
Why did you choose your course?
It is something that has always fascinated me with its endless possibilities and outstanding opportunities.
What have you enjoyed most about your course so far?
Its various challenges and the countless areas to explore and advance my skills. For example my dissertation topic that combined 3D graphics in a collaboration with the dentistry department.
What do you think about Sheffield as a city?
It's a beautiful city that has something for everyone. You can go from a peaceful evening at the magical botanical gardens and afternoon tea, to crazy shopping sprees at the Meadowhall shopping centre and fun nights at the local pubs and clubs. I also like the fact that is one of the safest and greenest cities in the UK.
Are you part of any student societies or project groups?
I was a committee member of the Sheffield Women in Computer Science society, a student mentor and maths mentor for 1st year students, a student ambassador for the Department of Computer Science, an International Engineering ambassador for the faculty of engineering and a digital ambassador via The Ambassador Platform (TAP). Through all those extracurricular activities I have gained a second family, some wonderful friends and I made so many memories that I will cherish forever. I got to share my experience and help in making the experience of the new students as smooth and as amazing as possible. It was really incredible getting involved in all of those activities (society events, hackathons, open days, workshops, industry talks etc.) and live every aspect of university life to the maximum.
What do you plan to do after completing your degree?
I'm hoping to further expand my research skills with the completion of a PhD degree on Verification.
What advice would you give to a younger student considering studying engineering/science/maths at university?
It is a challenging course but if you are up for the challenge it will become the greatest achievement of your life. You should give it your all and you will not regret it, but never forget to have fun and enjoy the moment.
