Barış teaches European Union politics and the politics of the Middle East. His research areas are European Union studies (with a focus on foreign and security policy), pacifism, non-violence and anti-militarism in international relations, and critical security studies.Currently Barış is also running a project titled Anti-militarist campus activism: Peace, nonviolence and resistance, funded by International Peace Research Association Foundation. In this project, he aims to explore how anti-militarist movements in UK universities understand peace and nonviolence, and how anti-militarism is visible in the work of university staff in the UK, be it in teaching, research or administrative spaces.
