Aerin joined the Department of Sociological Studies at University of Sheffield in 2025, as a research associate on the CCINDLE project's work package based in the UK, led by Prof Akwugo Emejulu. Prior to this role, Aerin was based at the University of Edinburgh where she completed her PhD. Her PhD dissertation, titled, "Race, Masculinity and Citizenship-making in Singapore" explored how Singaporean men constructed their identities as men through a decolonial intersectional methodology. She has tutored on courses such as Understanding Race and Colonialism, Introduction to Queer Studies, and other interdisciplinary modules. She has also experience teaching on core modules in Sociology, such as Social Theory. She is currently an AdvanceHE Fellow.
