Arriving at the School

We'll let you know your arrival location once you've booked a place at your offer holder day.

You can visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 4.30pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.

When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at the department activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department will be unable to accommodate any additional un-booked visitors.

However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.

Activities

You'll have the chance to take part in a variety of activities related to Medicine to give you a real taste of what it's like to be a student at Sheffield.

We run a range of activities on our applicant days and the below examples will give you an insight into what you could be doing on the day.

Activities: Tour and Demonstrations in the Medical Teaching Unit

You'll have the chance to visit the Medical Teaching Unit, see our new state-of-the-art anatomage tables, high-quality plastic models, real bones and skeletons, plastinations (which are prosections that have been imbued with a plastic-like polymer to keep them lifelike) and the radiology and surgical procedure tutorials on our large touch-screen monitors.

A variety of Teaching Demonstrations

Our Teaching Demonstrations will be delivered across a number of breakout rooms in the Medical School. You'll have the chance to move around these breakout rooms at your own pace, so you can explore, learn and chat to current students and staff without rushing.

The various Teaching Demonstrations will provide you with an advanced opportunity to try your hand at physical examinations which are taught on the course, find out more about our different teaching styles and assessments, speak to our current students, learn about primary care and understand more about our student support offerings. Our senior team members will also be available to chat to.
