I trained in Psychology at the University of Leeds before moving to the University of Sheffield to undertake an MMedSci in Human Nutrition. I completed my PhD at the University of Liverpool, focusing on human appetite regulation. I have held post-doctoral positions both nationally and internationally: in Germany (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, Department of Endocrinology), the USA (Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, Department of Psychology), and the UK (University of Leeds, Institute of Psychological Sciences).
I joined the School of Medicine and Population Health in 2013. Prior to this, I was a Lecturer in Biopsychology and Neuroscience at the University of Bradford.

I am an interdisciplinary researcher with over two decades of experience in academia. I have a background in Psychology, Human Nutrition, and Public Health.
My work spans the broad area of nutrition and behaviour, focusing on food consumption, food systems, and the promotion of healthful diets across the lifespan. Through this, I contribute to real-life solutions for complex problems associated with the triple burden of malnutrition, environmental change, and inequitable food access and availability.
I am an Associate Director at the Institute for Sustainable Food (https://sheffield.ac.uk/sustainable-food).
My recent research includes leading a work package on the UKRI-funded Transforming UK Food Systems “Healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people” (H3) project, focusing on biofortification and consumer acceptance (https://h3.ac.uk/research/biofortification-and-consumer-acceptance/). Additionally, I am a Co-I and the lead for Responsible Research and Innovation within the People Pillar at the National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC) (https://napic.ac.uk/).
