Emeritus Professor Jon Nicholl

I am an Emeritus Professor of Health Services Research (2022-present) and was Dean of ScHARR (2010-2017). I was also the inaugural Director of the NIHR School for Public Health Research (2012-2017). I was Director of the Medical Care Research Unit at the University of Sheffield from 1993 - 2010. Before joining Sheffield University in 1981 as a medical statistician I spent five years as a research associate at University College London working on road traffic accident prevention.

I am an NIHR Senior Investigator (Emeritus) and was Chair of the NIHR HTA Programme Commissioning Board from 2005 to 2010, and their Clinical Trials Board from 2007 to 2010. I also served as Deputy Chair of the Medical Research Council's Health Services and Public Health Research Board and their Clinical Trials Board. I chaired sub-panel 2 of REF 2014.
