Industry connections

Throughout your MBA journey, you will have a wealth of opportunities to expand your network and build connections with experts and business leaders, including members of our global MBA and Management School alumni community.

Experiential learning

At the heart of the Sheffield MBA is experiential learning. Through our ‘Challenge’ modules, you will work individually or in teams with a range of organisations to provide solutions to real business challenges they are facing related to marketing and internationalisation strategies. This is your chance to make a real lasting impact on the organisations you work with.

Client testimonies

We spoke with Lewis Cuckson from Anchor Magnets about the real impact the work of the Sheffield MBA students on his company.

Our organisation has transformed the lives of over 10,000 people since launching in 2003, bit keeping abreast of new ways of reaching more learners and businesses is paramount to our future success. The Sheffield MBA's Marketing Consultancy Challenge was an unmissable opportunity for us to benefit, while also helping its students put what they have learned into practice. We are now looking closely at the new ideas and directions the students proposed.

I was very impressed with the level of detail and work undertaken, and it has certainly given us some 'food for thought' in terms of how we can encourage Sheffield businesses to engage with their counterparts overseas. The work has provided us with a useful insight into market opportunities with three of Sheffield's long-standing Partner Cities - Bochum; Kawasaki and Pittsburgh.

At Genuit, a core part of our strategy is Growth, and we recognised the opportunity to work with groups of MBA students from Sheffield on elements of our plans. We have gained fresh unbiased insight and ideas that we will be able to explore further.

Student testimonies

I was offered the position of part-time Business Development and Sales Manager following the Marketing Consultancy Challenge. During the Marketing Consultancy Challenge, I had the opportunity to lead a team of four, working with The Northern Wine Guy (TNWG), a Sheffield-based company founded by Management School alumnus Andrew Lofthouse. Our primary focus was to enhance the brand’s local outreach, and we developed an Integrated Marketing Communication strategy to achieve this. Our strategy was built around strengthening TNWG's visibility, and thanks to frequent interactions with Andrew, we felt deeply involved in shaping the company's direction, almost like board members working together.

The Sheffield MBA, 2024

I highly valued the Challenge modules, such as the Marketing Consultancy Challenge and the Internationalisation Challenge, as they were very practical and helped me to understand more about real-world business problems and how to solve them. I got to work with and interview UK government officials and business owners which was a very insightful and unforgettable experience.

Angelina Arini Larasati

The Sheffield MBA, 2021

Nobody had to interview me for my current job - literally all of the key business stakeholders knew me and decided to offer me a role due to the interactions I had with them for my Individual MBA Challenge. That’s where you get to make an impression. They realised I was an asset and offered me this job.
