Sponsored by the University of Shefield’s FEMM hub, Rahul delivered an excellent oral presentation on the research topic entitled: “Influence of Blanking-Induced Edge Damage on the Magnetic Performance of Silicon Steel: A Modelling Approach.” This research provides a notable development in modelling mechanical-magnetic correlations specifically for electrical machine manufacturing and has led to an impactful multi disciplinary paper.

The positive reception from the international community regarding the study of cut-edge mechanical damage and its impact on magnetic behaviour is a testament to the study's relevance and impact.

The ICIEA-EU is a premier academic forum dedicated to the latest advancements in industrial engineering and their applications, and serves as a bridge between academic research and industrial practice. Key areas include advanced manufacturing, smart production, systems and reliability and sustainable engineering.

Rahul said: “Winning the Best Technical Presentation award at the ICIA-EU is truly a proud moment. The achievement motivates me to further explore the complex interplay between mechanical processing and magnetic properties, with the aim of developing more accurate models that can guide the design of efficient electrical machines and magnetic devices in the future.

I am sincerely thankful to The University of Sheffield and FEMM hub for providing the platform that made this work possible. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Prof. Geraint W Jewell, Prof. Hassan Ghadbeigi, and all other team members for their invaluable guidance and support".

Professor Hassan Ghadbeigi, Chair of Structural Integrity in Manufacturing, said: “Winning this award at ICIEA-EU is a significant achievement, as it means the work was judged by international experts to be among the most impactful and well-delivered sessions of the conference.”
