Launching the Food Ladders Toolkit, right in the heart of the community

Food Ladders is a framework developed by Dr Megan Blake to help communities, service providers, local government, and others develop a more sustainable pathway toward a food system that meets community members’ needs and desires.

On Tuesday 10th September Dr Megan Blake from the School of Geography and Planning, launched the Food Ladders Toolkit at the wonderful Community Shop in the London Borough of Lambeth.

The toolkit, funded by HEIF, and created by Dr Blake and Isaac Tendler is a series of online resources to guide those implementing the framework. It was created in consultation with more than twenty local authorities and has continuously evolved based on their input and expertise.

The launch brought together community organisations, local authorities, national charities, food alliances and members of the community to share delicious food, as well as their experience's of using the Food Ladders Framework.

It was a celebration of the work individuals and organisations have already done, but it was also a nod to the potential for so much more - of which the toolkit aims to facilitate.

Being held in the heart of the community and seeing first hand the passion and dedication of those involved in this space, emphasised how important progress is, and the key role Dr Blake's framework can have in this.
