Language Place and the Body in Childhood Literacies challenges traditional ideas about how young children learn language, showing how communication grows through movement, play, relationships, and the places where children live and learn. Bringing together chapters written by researchers and practitioners (including teachers, SaLTs, and play workers), it combines real-life examples with theory to show how children express themselves through speech, gesture, sign, and communication tools.
