With over a decade of industry experience as a Chief Engineer at Kuwait Steel, Naser chose to study MSc Advanced Metallurgy at Sheffield to expand his expertise and connect academic research with real industrial processes. His master’s gave him the metallurgical knowledge and research experience to strengthen his career in the steel industry.
With a background in biotechnology and professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Shivani studied an MSc in Biomedical Engineering to specialise in healthcare applications and gain the skills that will shape her future career in innovation.
Hao chose to pursue an MSc in Materials Science and Engineering to build on his background in energy engineering and gain international research experience. Through his master’s project, he has gained cutting-edge skills in experimental analysis and data processing that will support his future PhD ambitions in materials and new energy.
Bingnan chose to study an MSc in Materials Science and Engineering at Sheffield because of the flexibility to tailor modules to his interests. This allowed him to focus on computational materials science while broadening his knowledge of the field, providing the perfect preparation for his doctoral study.
Talal chose to pursue an MMet in Advanced Metallurgy to deepen his expertise and apply research directly to industry. Through his research project, he’s gaining hands-on experience that he now applies daily at Kuwait Steel in his role as continuous casting machine area supervisor.
Genevieve pursued an MSc in Biomedical Engineering to deepen her knowledge and gain the practical skills needed for a career in healthcare innovation. Through her group research on nanocomposites for cancer therapy, she’s developed technical expertise and confidence—preparing her to make a meaningful impact in the medical field.

Maria studied MMet in Advanced Metallurgy. Before starting the course Maria had been working in industry for 10 years and felt this course would be a strategic step in her long-term career.
Robert studied n MSc in Pharmaceutical Engineering, building on his background as a pharmacist and clinical researcher in Uganda. The course gave him specialist knowledge, hands-on insights from industry experts, and the employability skills to take the next step towards a career in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research.
