Population Health (distance learning) courses pre-arrival information
We are delighted to welcome you to the Division of Population Health. On this page, you'll find a list of important events, dates, and resources to prepare you for your distance learning course. This page will be updated with the latest information as it is made available.

Welcome site
Welcome week runs from Monday 22 September. We have enrolled you onto our online resource in Blackboard called “SoMPH Online Programmes Blackboard Home” which is now live and ready for you to access.
It contains valuable information about support services available to help you get started with your studies, plus information about the School and the wider University to help you prepare for your studies.
To access the Welcome site:
- Sign into MUSE with your University username and password
- Click on the Blackboard link at the top
- Click on ‘Courses’ on the left-hand menu and find the link to “SoMPH Online Programmes Blackboard Home”
Online Welcome Events
A series of online Welcome Webinars and Q&A events will be held to help you settle into university life. These sessions will be repeated on several days and times (including early evenings) to allow you to fit them around your work and home life. The sessions are designed to introduce you to your department, your programme of study, and your course lead. They are an important opportunity to get to know your academic community, learn more about how your course will run, and ask any questions you may have before teaching begins.
The Welcome Webinar will cover key information, highlight useful resources, and explain what to expect in your first term. The Q & A session will give you an opportunity to meet the course leads again, clarify any points you are not clear on and ask any remaining questions.
All online Welcome Webinars and Q&A events will be released to you via Blackboard, and you’ll be able to access the session details, times, and links directly there"
Key tasks to do before welcome week starts:
- Please have a look at the online resource School of Medicine and Population Health (SoMPH) SoMPH Online Programmes Blackboard Home and find the online Welcome Event (Webinars and Q&A events) details, times, and links
- Find one Welcome Webinar and one Q & A session that you will be able to attend and add these two events to your diary
Registration and requesting your UCard
As part of your registration with the University you can request a UCard (student ID card). If you wish to study on campus this card is required to enter the libraries and some other buildings across campus.
You can request a UCard once you have completed your registration and uploaded a photo. If you haven't completed this yet please do so and then return to complete this form.
To request a UCard complete this form, listing the correct postal address. Once we have this information a UCard will be printed and posted out to you.
Late registration
You have three weeks following Welcome Week to complete your registration with the University. We strongly advise that you complete your registration as soon as possible so you can get access to your online modules as soon as they start.
If you join the course after welcome Week and you miss the above welcome webinars please contact your course lead to organise a separate welcome meeting.
