Profile

I joined the UoS Clinical Skills team in 2017. Prior to this, I worked in the Fire Service where I first developed an interest in the treatment and care of casualties. I then spent several years working in operating theatres, first as an Operating Department Practitioner, before going on to train and work as a PA in anaesthesia.

In my current role, I plan and deliver clinical skills teaching and assessment for undergraduate medical students. I also maintain a network of contacts across a range of clinical disciplines to help ensure clinical skills educational resources, policies and procedures are relevant and up-to-date.

Research interests

My current area of interest is the theory of observation and assessment, specifically how it relates to teaching, student learning, and skill acquisition. I'm part of a team driving exciting change in this area of the curriculum, which I believe will benefit future cohorts of MBChB students.

Separately, I also have particular interests in medical simulation, the provision of life support training, and human factors principles related to healthcare.
