I am the Faculty Lead for Clinical Skills and Simulation at the University of Sheffield, with over two decades of experience in healthcare education, clinical training, and large-scale operational leadership. Since joining the University in 2002, I have dedicated my career to teaching, assessing, and introducing pioneering high-fidelity simulation programs that bridge academic theory and real-world clinical practice.
In my former role as Manager of the Clinical Skills Centre, I spearheaded the development of two state-of-the-art simulation facilities, creating world-class practical learning environments. In 2004, I co-founded the innovative Patients as Educators Programme, an initiative that earned national and international acclaim for embedding patient perspectives directly into medical education, allowing us to share expertise with medical schools globally.During the COVID-19 pandemic, I established and clinically led the University’s Covid Test Centre. In this role, I directed a team of over 200 staff members and designed comprehensive clinical training programs to ensure safe, effective operations during a major public health crisis.
In my current position as Faculty Lead, I am driving the strategic vision to make the Clinical Skills Centre a shared Faculty of Health resource. I have a strong special interest in advancing Interprofessional Education (IPE) across all undergraduate healthcare programs, ensuring that every student who trains at the centre receives the same equitable, high-caliber, and collaborative learning experience.
