Health and Social Care
In partnership with CATCH, Medical AMRC, Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University and working with regional NHS and social care providers. Sheffield Robotics creates innovative robotic platforms and systems for healthcare and assistive living.
Theme Leads
Dr Damian has developed bionic and assistive robots that show life-like behavior and sustained operation in order to achieve long-term adaptive healthcare. Dr Damian's approach in tackling this challenge is to exploit the computational interplay between material structures and mechanics. This research resides at the intersection between soft robotics, embodied artificial intelligence and bioengineering. Some of her work includes robotic implants, prosthetic wearables (tactile sensors and haptic devices), and plant prostheses.
Dr Miyashita's research interests include: Micro and milli robotics; Self-assembling machine; Metamaterial; 4D printing; Self-reconfigurable systems; Biomedical robots; Origin of life
