Actively involved in multi-faith work nationally and locally for over 30 years. His different positions in the community and in the university is effectively promoting community cohesion.

Use of food and the sense of taste in biblical texts, especially in the New Testament and non-canonical literature.

Medieval and early modern Englishes; how Anglo-Norman, Scots, Old Norse and Latin have impacted on the history of English language and literature.
