Mouse models of ageing and Parkinson's

Working Group 1 (WG1) focus on identifying which mouse models of Parkinson's Disease (PD) and ageing should be prioritised, the experimental design and best practices that can lead to further funding opportunities.

This group is led by Ilaria Bellantuono from the University of Sheffield and Julie Andersen from the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.

Aims

The aim of WG1 is 

  • to reach a consensus on the best experimental approach to test the role of biological ageing in PD pathology
  • to define the models, the experimental design and the methods of assessment that are required to determine the role of biological ageing in accelerating or increasing the severity of PD
  • to list the actions required and reach a consensus on those to prioritise in the next 5 years
