PD-AGE operates through four specialized working groups, each dedicated to dissecting the interplay between ageing and Parkinson's disease across distinct model systems. Our collaborative framework ensures comprehensive exploration and targeted investigation into key aspects of ageing/Parkinsons

Mouse models of ageing

Working Group 1 (WG1) focuses on identifying which mouse models of Parkinson's Disease and ageing should be prioritised, the experimental design and best practices that can lead to further funding opportunities.

Cell models of ageing

Working Group 2 (WG2) strives to reach a consensus on when to use iPSCs and derived cell types for studying the role of ageing in Parkinson's Disease and identify differences in protocols, which may affect the generation of cellular ageing features.

Rat models of ageing

Working Group 3 (WG3) focuses on rat models, as these seem to be better for modelling various aspects of Parkinson's disease. This group will focus on designing experiments to adequately study the effects of ageing on Parkinson's.

Non-human primate models of ageing

Working Group 4 (WG4) strives to determine the unique advantages of using non-human primates compared with other available models and make recommendations in experimental design.
