The AMBA & BGA Excellence awards celebrate excellence in the global business education community, across business schools, their students, graduates, suppliers, and employers. The awards provide a global platform for AMBA-accredited and BGA member business schools to showcase their achievements and gain international recognition.

Sheffield University Management Schools holds the ‘Triple Crown’ accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Association of MBAs (AMBA) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

This nomination recognises the forward-thinking work behind the School's Digital Transformation of The Intelligent Organisation Module, inspired by Industry 4.0 and 5.0.

Led by Dr Terrence Perera, this core Sheffield MBA module has been transformed from a traditional learning framework into an immersive education experience. Dr Perera explains how students do not simply study how digital technologies transform business, rather they experience it directly.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, simulation, and virtual and augmented environments were embedded throughout the module enabling students to engage directly with the technologies that shape modern organisations.

Taking these concepts into real-world impact, Dr Perera also conceived the idea for The Sheffield MBA AI Collective. The Collective brings together students, alumni, academics, and industry partners to apply AI to real-world challenges across sectors like manufacturing, rail, banking, and medical-legal systems.

By bringing together cutting-edge theory with experiential learning, this digital transformation ensures our graduates are well equipped for the future.

Dr Melanie Hassett Sheffield MBA Director, said: “A distinctive aspect of this transformation was the integration of 4.0 technologies alongside industry 5.0 values. This approach ensures the long-term value of the Sheffield MBA to our graduates, a commitment this global nomination reinforces.”

Reflecting on what this nomination means for Sheffield University Management School, Dean Professor Eleanor Davies, added: “We’re committed to driving innovation and pushing digital boundaries to deliver business education that prepares our students for the future of work. We’re thrilled this nomination recognises the hard work taking place here at Sheffield.”

Congratulations to our dedicated staff, students, and partners who made this nomination possible, and good luck to our fellow nominees across the globe!
