Dr Ozlem Arikan, a lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management at the Management School, has received a prestigious award for ‘outstanding contributions to accounting education’.

The AICPA and CIMA’s (Association of International Certified Professional Accountants) CGMA Innovation Global gold award was presented to Dr Arikan at the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) Accounting Educator Awards 2025.

The award honours educators spearheading pioneering initiatives that have a sustained impact on student learning.

“I am honoured to receive the CIMA–AICPA Global Gold Education Innovation Award for my project Educating Accounting Students on the Connection Between Climate and Financial Reports. The project helps future accountants understand how climate risks connect to financial reporting—encouraging them not only to know the standards but also to care why they matter. By strengthening this connection, the project aims to help prevent greenwashing and empower the next generation of accountants to play an active role in addressing the climate crisis. I am grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to contribute to shaping a more sustainability-conscious accounting profession.”
