Each year we have the wonderful opportunity to congratulate some of our highest achieving graduates and most dedicated contributors to the School at a prestigious Prize Giving and Thank You Ceremony. This year was no exception.
Our Acting Dean Professor Fraser McLeay began the proceedings with words of warm welcome, before handing over to class of 2019 MSc Marketing Management Practice alumna Niki Hodson, for a congratulatory speech. Since graduating with a place on the Dean’s List, Niki has gone from strength to strength, joining Adelphi Values as a Research Associate and being promoted twice to become a Research Manager.
A round of applause was heard for Niki’s inspiring words. We particularly loved: “It might sound cheesy, but when one door closes in your face, see it as an opportunity to turn around and see what other doors are waiting for you to open.”
Professor McLeay then had the honour of awarding engraved plaques to our newest members of the Dean’s List, including a special mention for Carlo Vidal Miranda, who is our first double-winner of both the undergraduate and postgraduate award. Our warmest congratulations go to:
- Toby Edward Darroch
- Kate Eliza Jane Lally
- Chloe Ju Xian Low
- Carlo Vidal Miranda
We thanked our PhD graduates for their contributions to the body of academic research within the School and presented each of them with an engraved clock.
Our University and sponsored prize winners had their moment on stage, presented by Associate Dean for Education Professor Robert McMurray, with help from CIM Learner Partnerships Manager Jonny Crawley. We said well done to our top performers, who each achieved the highest average academic grade out of every student on their degree programme.
Last but not at all least, we welcomed our graduating Student Ambassadors, Content Creators and Student Academic Representatives to the stage to thank them for their commitment, dedication and representation of the School during their studies.
Our special guest, Ambassador of the Grantham Institute for Sustainable Futures, Partner at DLA Piper and Management School Advisory Board Member, Teresa Hitchcok, delivered an inspiring closing address and even received a round of applause part way through her speech, for her words of wisdom!
We would like to say an enormous thank you to our special guest speakers Teresa Hitchcock and Niki Hodson, and to all our postgraduate prize sponsors: the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, Fretwell-Downing Hospitality, Just Development and Pearn Kandola LLP.
