Yiming Zhang

Member of the Dean’s List, class of 2021

Already the winner of the 2020 PwC Prize for his second year performance in financial accounting, Yiming showed dedication to pursuing his future career in the financial industry. 

Professional development

Yiming was recommended as having been “instrumental” during the busiest time of year at his Investment Banking Internship with Caitong Securities.

He also completed internships in Insurance Underwriting at the China Pacific Insurance Company (CPIC), in Institutional Banking with Citibank, Sales at Shanghai Roche Pharmaceuticals, and finally in Audit and Assurance at Deloitte, Shanghai.

To support his catalogue of work experience internships, Yiming completed the Bloomberg Market Certification, and succeeded in passing Part One of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) Financial Risk Manager Exam.

University life

Yiming made the most out of student life whilst at Sheffield, holding a committee role as President of the Animal Appreciation Society and being an active member of the Investment Society alongside studying for his degree.

Gaining a place on the IBM University Business Challenge, Yiming played an integral part of the team, going on to successfully lead his team through to the second round as the only representatives from the University of Sheffield.

A responsible citizen

Drawing upon academic knowledge gained from studying his degree and skills from his work experience, Yiming decided to take responsibility for finances as a Senior Member of AIESEC,  a not-for-profit platform led by students and graduates with the aim of developing youth leaders across the globe.

Yiming also took on a volunteer role for Shanghai No.6 People’s Hospital, responding to patient queries and educating them to use the Smart Registration machines to help alleviate some of the hospital's administration pressures.
