Meet the Dean's List postgraduate class of 2021
Congratulations to our new members of the Dean's List, who are joining our vibrant alumni community after completing their degrees!
The Dean's List recognises our graduates' outstanding academic achievements, employability and social responsibility whilst studying at Sheffield University Management School (SUMS). Meet the exceptional graduates who have earned a place on the Dean's List in the postgraduate class of 2021.
Mohd Adderly bin Suhaimi
MSc Marketing Management Practice
During his studies, Mohd showed determination to boost his employability, step outside his comfort zone and be an integral part of his community. Mohd joined a Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp organised by the Malaysian government to improve his interpersonal and team working skills. He was also selected to participate in the N-Gene Young Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, where he was tasked to develop a business plan. He added to his skillset by joining Coursera and undertaking online courses in topics like Marketing Analytics, Market Research, and Teaching Pedagogy.
To support his fellow students Mohd led and moderated an online study group with his peers, and in his role as a Student Academic Representative he set up WeChat and WhatsApp groups, facilitating knowledge exchange and peer support amongst his classmates.
Outside of the University, when teaching in schools was moved online due to the pandemic, Mohd mentored his former Primary School teachers who were struggling to use online software. To help, he created a WhatsApp Group and then produced video tutorials on how to use software like Zoom or Google Meet.
Mohd has been successfully awarded a postgraduate research scholarship to study for his PhD at the University of Queen Mary London.

She’s now progressed to become an Intern Buddy, helping to support new listeners.

She also supported her peers locally through her role as a Student Academic Representative and secured a place on the Mindset Matters Leadership Series.
Amritha undertook three part-time jobs in warehouse operations and logistics, before completing her year with a summer work placement as a Project Manager in the Department of Economics, gaining valuable real-world management experience.
Luke Smith
MSc Information Systems Management
Luke has been proactive in developing his employability, whilst also contributing to his community. As a Casual Labourer with a block-paving business, Luke gained practical insight into the trades industry and used his real-world experiences to form the basis of his dissertation topic.
He supported his student community as a Student Academic Representative, and he contributed to an online fundraising event called Adored Charity Stream by performing with his Band ‘Double Denim’ to support struggling families during the pandemic.
Luke took the initiative to teach himself computer programming and learned intermediate level Python programming. He also undertook a Public Speaking Masterclass to improve his presentation skills.
After accepting a place on Gripple Ltd’s competitive graduate scheme, Luke undertook summertime casual work at the Gripple factory to gain an operational perspective in preparation for his new role. Luke continues to develop his professional skills in his new role, expanding his web design and computer programming knowledge whilst working full time.
