Students outside the University of Sheffield's Students' Union building

Event details

Description

Registration is now open for AI for Research Day at the University of Sheffield, held under the theme AI for Research That Matters.

  • Date: Thursday 1st October 2026
  • Venue: INOX, Students’ Union at the University of Sheffield, S10 2TG
  • Audience: All University of Sheffield researchers (including PGRs, early career and established researchers) and Professional Services colleagues.

About the day
Led by the Centre for Machine Intelligence, the day shows how researchers across every discipline are putting AI to work. It's built for people who are curious about AI but haven't yet brought it into their own research — with plenty for those already using these tools, too. You'll leave with a clearer sense of where AI fits in your work, and the practical experience to take the next step.

What to expect

  • Morning Sessions: Keynote talks, a panel discussion and talks from Sheffield researchers and industry experts from Dell and NVIDIA.
  • Afternoon Workshops: Hands-on interactive sessions providing a practical starting point for using AI tools and techniques in your own research.
  • Networking: Time to connect with researchers from across the disciplines and with the University's research support community.

Contribute: We'd love to hear from you — submit a talk proposal
