The course allowed me to get into the technical depths of more than one area of interest, such as dynamics, tribology and composite materials
Before coming to Sheffield for her Masters in Advanced Mechanical Engineering, Anushka Mookherjee worked within the R&D department of the Mercedes-Benz Cars Division in India.
She tells us a little more about her experience as a Masters student within our Department:
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the real-world applications of concepts learned in Dynamics and Tribology. The combination of experimentation along with verification via computer models has been quite insightful.
What are your ambitions?
Before arriving at Sheffield, I worked at a top automotive company, Mercedes-Benz. Pursuing a master's in Advanced Mechanical Engineering at a top University was my ambition. Therefore, my ambition for after I complete my degree is to re-enter the automotive industry with an improved skill set, a renewed vigour, and higher goals from what I have previously achieved.
What would you say to someone considering studying this degree at university?
I have already encouraged my junior colleagues from my previous institute to consider the University of Sheffield as a top choice for a masters in mechanical engineering. A Masters degree opens up more doors for an individual's professional development and I believe that Sheffield’s programme allows students to forge their own paths by choosing electives tailored to their interests, and the infrastructure and opportunities provided by the University are a great way to experience the international environment and move on to experience the international work culture.
