Luke Jones

I am the Technical Specialist responsible for the Lea Lab and Optomechanics Lab, with a PhD from the University of Sheffield in Mechanical Engineering.

Prior to my PhD I worked for a surface preparation company first as a draughtsman and then in research and development. During my PhD I focused on the development of a novel damage model for electric machine laminations and the associated experimental calibration using digital image correlation.

I've worked as a PDRA further investigating silicon steels and then with the FEMM hub providing experimental support for the characterisation of materials, finite element analysis, and the investigation of cut edge damage in blanking.

My work now includes supporting students and researchers to design and conduct their experimental work.
