I am a Research Associate in Experimental Biomechanics in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Civil Engineering at the University of Sheffield. I completed my PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield, where I combined multiscale modelling with advanced experimental characterisation (XCT/SEM) and Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) to study tailored fibre placement composites. My current role focuses on using in situ XCT compression to quantify bone ingrowth in additively manufactured porous bone implants and to understand how ingrowth influences load transfer and mechanical stability.

Mechanical Engineering
My research interests focus on the relationship between bone ingrowth and the mechanical performance of AM porous bone implants, investigated through in situ XCT compression and image-based analysis. I am particularly interested in:
- Quantifying the spatial distribution and morphology of bone ingrowth within implant lattices from 3D imaging
- Measuring deformation and load transfer mechanisms using time-lapse XCT and DVC
- Establishing structure–function links between bone ingrowth and mechanical stability (e.g., stiffness evolution, localised deformation)
- Developing computational models and data analysis pipelines that are grounded in experimental observations, to support predictive assessment and design optimisation of porous implants
I aim to combine imaging, mechanical testing and modelling to provide a mechanistic understanding of implant–bone interaction and to contribute to improved implant architectures for reliable long-term fixation.
