Research Project Title: A comprehensive assessment of the Three-Temperatures method for the estimation of evapotranspiration from vegetated Sustainable Drainage Systems.

The robustness and simplicity of the Three-Temperature (3-T) method makes it appealing to estimate evapotranspiration (ET) from a surface. However, the method has been met with varying degrees of success and is based on several assumptions with limitations that are yet to be fully understood in the context of Sustainable Drainage System SuDS.
The focus of this study will be to determine if reasonable ET estimates from a vegetated SuDS is achievable using the 3-T method, specifically to produce continuous data record of ET. This will include a comprehensive assessment of the 3-T method with the aim of leading to a better understanding of the method’s assumptions and limitations. The findings from the study may potentially be used to develop a new method(s), based the 3-T technique, for the development of a quick and easy approach to produce reasonable ET estimates from on site SuDS.
