- Profile
-
I am a University Teacher in Professional Skills within the Department of Mechanical Engineering here at the University of Sheffield. Originally from Lithuania, I moved to the UK in 2008 and received my BEng in Engineering and Management from the University of Bradford in 2011, and a PhD in acoustics from the University of Sheffield in 2015.
After completing my PhD, I worked in secondary education and in pedagogical research, which involved working on projects with the Institute of Physics and UCL. I rejoined the department in 2019 as a postdoc, working on fibre-optic sensing systems, and became a university teacher in 2021.
As well as leading modules focusing on design and professional skills, I am also one of the Admissions Tutors for the department, and am also the 3rd Year Tutor.
- Research interests
-
Prior to getting involved in pedagogical research, my area of research interest was acoustics. This included studying complex intensity distribution in waveguides with varying inhomogeneities, and exploring sustainable sound-absorbing materials. I also closely worked with an industrial partner, nuron ltd., on fibre-optic sensing solutions for underground pipes.
My pedagogical research interests include teamwork, professional skills in engineering, and reflective practice.
