The University of Sheffield School of Law is very pleased to announce an event to celebrate the scholarly work of Emeritus Professor David McClean.
David has long been one of the leading Conflict of Laws (Private International Law) scholars in English law and across countries through the Commonwealth. For over six decades his authoritative work on Conflict of Laws and on Air Law has been internationally recognised.
David was on the staff of Sheffield Law School from 1961, Professor from 1973 to his retirement in 2004. He was Pro-Vice-Chancellor from 1991 to 1996 and the University gave him an honorary LittD in 2012. David was appointed CBE in 1994 and an honorary QC in 1995. He was a judge in the ecclesiastical courts from 1992 to 2014. He is a Bencher of Gray’s Inn, a member of the Institut de droit international and a Fellow of the British Academy.
