Other Pro Bono Schemes

Instead of volunteering with our in-house pro bono clinics, students can volunteer with one of our many external pro bono schemes. If clients need support, we have added the other pro bono scheme's contact details below.

South Yorkshire Police scrutiny panels

South Yorkshire Police host three scrutiny panels: (1) for the use of force, (2) the use of taser and (3) the use of stop and search powers. The use of these powers is not without controversy, and it is essential that their use is closely analysed to ensure officers are using their powers correctly and making decisions effectively.

All three panels run in a similar format. Panel members read written documentation submitted by the officer using the tactic and watch Body Worn Video footage of the incident. Panel members then complete a short questionnaire to document their thoughts and opinions before a group discussion, supported by officers in the room.
