Joining the University 

Support is available for colleagues who are joining from overseas, You can find practical information and links to external sites that we hope you will find useful and will help to ensure a smooth transition to Sheffield.


Peer support and mentoring 

The Staff Race Equality Network mentoring scheme is a six-month mentoring programme where a member of staff is matched with a more junior BAME staff member to help career development. 

The Staff Race Equality Network aims to restart the the mentoring scheme in 2024/25


Staff Race Equality Network

The University of Sheffield’s Staff Race Equality Network addresses the needs, priorities and concerns of academic and professional service staff members who are ethnic minorities. 

All members of staff at the University who self-identify as coming from an ethnic minority background are welcome to become members.

White Rose Consortium 

The White Rose University Consortium is a partnership between the universities of Sheffield, Leeds and York.

Over the years, the Consortium has launched various initiatives, including bottom-up research collaborations, doctoral training programmes, and library partnerships. 

We actively share these opportunities with colleagues across the University. 

Report + Support

Report and Support allows staff and students to report concerns, anonymously or with their contact details, about an experience they have had or witnessed at the University.

International scholarships

We offer a generous package of financial support for international students, including undergraduate and postgraduate taught scholarships worth £10,000 towards the annual tuition fee.

Applications are open for existing offer holders for programmes starting in autumn 2025.
