My time at the University of Sheffield was about so much more than just my degree; it was about finding a second home
From the moment I arrived, the city of Sheffield itself felt incredibly welcoming. Its warmth and friendliness made it easy to settle in, which as an international student, gave me the peace of mind and confidence to truly focus on my studies and personal growth.
That sense of community was mirrored tenfold within the university. I was consistently amazed by the incredible support from both my academics and my peers. My professors were more than just lecturers; they were mentors who were genuinely invested in my success, always offering guidance and encouragement that went far beyond the curriculum.
Equally, the friendships I formed with my classmates created a wonderful support system. We celebrated each other's successes and helped each other through challenges, building a collaborative spirit that I've carried with me into my professional life.
Ultimately, the University of Sheffield didn't just equip me with the skills for my career; it provided a nurturing environment that allowed me to thrive. That combination of academic excellence and heartfelt support is what truly prepared me to step confidently into my current role.

Beyond my standard coursework, I was very active during the Global Journalism Week. This was a fantastic opportunity to connect with seasoned professionals from the industry, bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world practice. The insights I gained were invaluable. Furthermore, many of my assignments involved creating practical work, like producing podcasts and conducting interviews.
Maintaining a good work-life balance was really important to me, and I was a regular at the Goodwin Sports Centre. Having access to such a great gym was essential for managing the demands of my degree and keeping both my mind and body healthy.
Socially, being a resident at Allen Court was wonderful. I made a real effort to be a part of the various residence life activities. This was a brilliant way to meet people from different courses and countries, helping me build a diverse circle of friends and feel truly integrated into the university community.

Build your professional story from day one. See everything you do as valuable experience, the skills from your degree, the podcasts you make for assignments, part-time jobs, and especially internships. This practical experience is what employers really want to see.
Prioritise building good relationships. Your classmates, lecturers, and the people you meet at events are your first network. Be curious, be supportive, and connect with people authentically. Good networks open doors, and good friends make the journey worthwhile.
